Dubai, January 25, 2017: The third edition of the Fazza International Para-Archery Championship Dubai 2017 will be held from 25th to 30th of January 2017 under the patronage of His
Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
This was announced on Wednesday during a Press conference, which was attended by HE Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of the Organizing Committee; Mr Majid Abdulla Al Usaimi, the Director of the Organizing Committee; Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Technical Committee of Fazza Championships for the Disabled. In addition, the heads of the
concerning committees and the representatives of mass media attended the news conference.
Addressing the Press conference, HE Thani Juma Berregad praised the role of Dubai in hosting and organizing the international championships and events. Berregad mentioned that Dubai became a pioneer in hosting mega events and made many achievements in the last few years.
He reiterated that Dubai plays an important role for caring the disabled and develops their abilities. So that’s the reason the Dubai Club for the Disabled was established in 1993 in the Emirate to serve the disabled in a professional way and fulfill their special
needs.
“Dubai Club for the Disabled represents the United Arab Emirates in this championship so I believe it is a great responsibility on us to raise the name of our country by achieving excellent results and enhance the image of our country as a famous sports destination in the world,” he stressed.
Al Usaimi mentioned that the previous two championships witnessed a great success and got an international reputation in this field. “So we should achieve more success this year in the championship and in the coming years to maintain the international reputation,” he added.
He informed that the UAE and Iraq are the only two Arab countries in the Para – Archery Championship. Both the countries
entered in this game four years ago, he added.
“Our performance was excellent during the last two editions of the championship despite the fact that only two players participated in
the event. This year, we are participating with a strong team of five players and they include: Mohamed Al Shehhi, Gholam Khorshed,
Ibrahim Salem, and Gamal Al Bedwawy. Ansaf Al Neaimy will be the only female participates and she is participating in the event for
the first time.
Al Hammadi said that the players as well trainers are very excited and ready for the championship.
The participating countries for the third edition are Algeria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, UK, India, Iraq, Italy,
Latvia, Malaysia, Slovakia, Turkey and the UAE.
Al Hammadi informed that the UAE team has attended ten days camp training before the beginning of the championship and the team is confident to achieve better results than the last two championships.
