A glittering ceremony closed the Dubai Club Ramadan Festival for People of Determination, which saw several winners being awarded in sports, cultural and community events.

The Fazza team won the "Football Sevens" title, while the second place went to the Happiness Team and the third to the Challenge Partners.

"Expo" won first place in the volleyball competition, followed by "Happiness" in second place, while "Challenge Partners" took the third place. Issa Hajir took the first place in men’s Badminton while Walid Khaled was awarded the top place in "hearing impairment" event.

Zakia Ahmed topped in girl's event, while Hamad Jalal led the “mixed hearing impairment” chess competition.

Paralympic star Aisha Al Muhairi in action

In the “Elite” shooting competition for People of Determination, UAE's Paralympic star Aisha Al Muhairi took the first place followed by Aisha Al Shamsi and Zain Omar Zain.

In the table tennis wheelchair competition, the first place went to Ibrahim Salem while Muhammad Al-Mas was crowned champion in table tennis standing.

The top places in Boccia men’s event went to Jaafar Al-Qumish and Abdul Aziz Abdul Karim, while the Girls competition was won by Hamda Obaid and Ghala Hussein.

Other winners included Mahmoud Tayfour, Muhammad Fahmy, Noura Al-Zarouni, Maha Salem, Kulthum Ali and Mona Malallah besides Kholoud Al-Hasani, Maitha bin Balil and Nada Ahmed.

H.E. Thani Juma Beregad, Chairman of the Dubai Club for People of Determination; Majid Al-Usaimi, Executive Director, crowned the winners of various sports competitions, while Hassan Al-Mazrouei and Mona Hammad, members of the club's board of directors, crowned the winners of cultural and community competitions.

The closing ceremony started with the national anthem and a documentary video about the current version of the festival followed by a poem by Ibrahim Safa titled “We pledge to you, Father” dedicated to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and a chant.

People of High Determination who changed ideas of others: Berregad

For his part, Berregad expressed his happiness with the festival’s success, praising the achievements of the “People of Determination” and describing them as “People of High Determination who changed the ideas of others and represented the noble sports spirit through this festival”.

He also thanked the parents of the festival participants who encouraged their children to participate in such important community events.

Majid Al-Usaimi praised the efforts of the various working teams, which had a positive effect in bringing this exceptional version to the prospects of the desired success, which made the "people of determination" happy; the participants in the various events and their parents.

The closing ceremony was attended by a Japanese delegation from the organising teams for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
