Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, praised the Dubai Club Festival for People of Determination and the diversity of its activities targeting all categories of ‘People of Determination’, stressing that it is an inclusive forum and a source of pride for everyone.

This came during Her Excellency’s visit to the club during the Ramadan Festival and her inspection tour of the festival’s sports, cultural and community activities, which she started by watching part of the 3rd/4th place match in the wheelchair basketball competition between Dubai Municipality and Dubai Ambulance Corporation in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament. Dubai Municipality had won the match 66/50.

Her Excellency also witnessed the verses of the participants in the Holy Quran competition and a documentary film on the current 10th session, held under the patronage of Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The event, that encourages People of Determination to turn to the Book of God in order to preserve, understand, perform, reflect and ignite the spirit of competition among the participants, had witnessed participation from 463 contestants with various disabilities from 57 entities.

Her Excellency witnesses sports and cultural activities

Her Excellency, the Minister visited the Ramadan Majilis, that included various activities, most notably discovering the talents of people of determination, theatrical performances and daily competitions.

She also visited senior citizens and also met with several Club teams of different disabilities, briefing them on the various "People of Determination" initiatives.

Her Excellency, the Minister commended the keenness of parents of “People of Determination” and families to follow up on the activities of the festival that included busy evening activities in this holy month.

“These events boosted the festival, which achieved its goals in developing behaviour and skills for the service of society, with this great interaction of People of Determination and their families,” said Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid praising the positive atmosphere that has come through these activities.

Her Excellency’s visit is a certificate of success for the event

For his part, Majid Al-Usaimi, Executive Director of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, valued the visit of Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, which made the People of Determination happy and had a great impact on them.

He also stressed that Her Excellency’s praise of the diversity of activities targeting all the People of Determination categories is “a certificate of success for the event”, especially as the club aims to hold these events in order to inspire the people of determination to practice various activities according to their ambitions and abilities and to make use of their time that benefits them physically, morally and mentally.

“The next stage will witness joint cooperation between the Ministry of Community Development and the club to achieve what we all aspire to,” Al Usaimi added.
